Infused Water
If you find plain water boring to drink, then infusing your water with fruits, vegetables, and herbs can help increase your likelihood of reaching for a glass of water instead of juice or soda.
How long should you infuse fruit in water?
3–4 hours should be enough to have nicely infused water but if you like strong flavors, you can leave the fruit in for up to 12 hours. Once you are happy with the flavor it's a good idea to strain out the fruit. Leave it in a large container for looks, it can entice you to come back for more!
How do I make fruit infused water at home?
Start with cold tap or filtered water, then choose a flavor combination you want to use. Some great combinations for fruit infused water are:
· Lemon & strawberry
· Strawberry & basil
· Watermelon & mint
· Cucumber & mint
· Pineapple & ginger
To prepare, slice ingredients (or tear herbs into large chunks) and add to the water. The more of an ingredient you use, and the longer you let it infuse, the stronger the flavors will be.
Here are a few more tips to increase your water intake:
· Take a water bottle with you any place you go.
· Treat yourself to another pretty water bottle or an infused water bottle (they have an inside core to put the fruit)
· Include slices of fruit, berries, and herbs to infuse and flavor the water (this week’s goal and focus)
· Make lovely fruit-flavored ice cubes to add to your water
· Opt for sparkling mineral water over carbonated drinks
· Each time you wrap up a glass of water, fill the glass back up
This is why I chose fruit-infused water as a goal this week. It can help increase your daily water consumption because of the look and the flavor. You can add any fruit from A to Z to your water, then gulp it up. Make up your own recipes, there are no rules. Completely your choice!
