Having a serious, potentially life-threatening illness/health scare or family history will affect every aspect of your life.  You may feel afraid, angry, or overwhelmed. 

You may have feelings of loss over changes to your independence, privacy, health and expected future.  You may worry about how it will affect your relationships, finance, career/work/purpose, and the activities you enjoy.

All these feelings are normal!

Every person responds differently to a serious health diagnosis, and each situation is unique.

My specialty is working with people just like you.

I am a physical therapist assistant, lead fitness trainer and wellness professional turned Nationally Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC).

I have a growing specialty of professionals, aged 40+ who have had a recent health scare, who want to reclaim their lives and make healthy choices, focusing on themselves; and bringing joy back into their lives.

I’ll provide accountability by partnering with YOU, so you don’t feel overwhelmed as you discover, reclaim, and restore energy, balance and well-being without feeling paralyzed.

FOOD!

This section gives you fun and healthy meal and snack ideas, as well as favorite recipes from me (Janelle) and her friends. Send me your favorites and I’ll feature them here!


How about a hearty breakfast of 5-Grain cereal? Add fruit, sprinkle on some flax and a side of banana to create a delicious breakfast bowl. You’ll stay full for hours with this nutritious mix!

You can uses honey or real maple syrup to sweeten if the fruit isn’t enough.

Make apple crisps with lots of apples, raisons and pecans, sprinkle the top with a bit of oatmeal, brown sugar and flax. Bake and YUM!


Continuing the apple theme with a deconstructed caramel apple with peanut butter or caramel, raw almonds, or ground flax


It’s time to harvest and blend the herbs for winter seasonings!


The finished product mixed and stored! So satisfying!



Use fresh herbs in veggie grill pockets all fall! Leave a few uncut to add fresh.


Research shows that when you make the presentation of food enticing, people are more apt to try it. It’s also a great way to mentor healthy eating kids and grandchildren. Have them sketch out a drawing and think of fruits that could be cut up for the design of the month.

Take them shopping for all the parts of the kiwi tree, charcuterie tray or the fruit and enlist their help picking out all the fruits and veggies. It’s a great time to teach your captive audience about what each fruit or vegetable offers nutritionally or maybe how it’s grown. If they are involved in the idea, shopping, and preparation of the food they are more likely to try it! And they’ll offer it to others to try.

Batch side dishes! Red potatoes with Liquid Braggs Amino Acids and butter, a veggie tray dish and Brussel sprouts! One dish wonders that are delicious and healthy! All you need to make is a protein part - we like grilled chicken breasts - change them up with different herbs or use BBQ sauce! You’ll be set for the week.

Take a walk…find some stairs and give yourself a cardio burst on your next hike/walk.

Fall Fitness, get outside!

Ben Hansen park in Wisconsin Rapids, home of the Wisconsin Fire Fighters museum and memorials. Consider a visit and a walk around the park to honor the 343 who lost their lives on 9/11.

If you have a joint issue, disability or other reason you cannot hike/walk long distances like me - modify! Take more short walks or add in swimming/pool exercises (Joint Efforts Arthritis Foundation classes), try a mini-trampoline/rebounder for more cushion or add in more upper body workouts to increase lean muscle tissue and burn more calories!

Get out and explore what your area has to offer or pick a destination close by for new scenery.

Explore and hike local, county or state parks for fall colors! It’s a great time to explore and have fun in nature! Collecting leaves, acorns or other fall décor.

Send a friend a photo reminder of time spent with them, and reminisce about that time together…remember when we saw the fall colors?


It’s time for backyard bonfires or small patio ones!


SMILE! It’s easy and contagious!
